Born in Lisbon, in 1967. Lives in Lisbon and works in Ericeira, Portugal. Studied painting at AR.CO – Centro de Arte e Comunicação Visual in Lisbon, 1987/1992, and sculpture in 1987.
Since 1991 he has been participating in various group shows both in Portugal and abroad, having held his first solo show in 1994. In 1993 he was awarded the 1st Prize in Painting at the Portimão Art Fair (Portugal), and in 1995 was selected as part of Portugal's representation at the Biennale of Young Artists of Europe and the Mediterranean, in Rijeka, Croatia.
Highlights from his recent exhibitions include the solo shows “Finisterra”, at Museu Nogueira da Silva, Braga, Portugal; “Estais”, at Museu Municipal de Faro, in Faro, Portugal; “Exílio”, at Casa-atelier Vieira da Silva, Fundação Arpad Szenes - Vieira da Silva, in Lisbon, Portugal; “Peut-être Demain”, at Galerie Elizabeth Couturier, Lyon, France; and the group shows “NegOcio” at Centro Cultural Las Cigarreras, Alicante, Spain; “Under the Sign of Amadeo. A Century of Art” at the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation, in Lisbon, Portugal; “Ignoto” with Pedro Valdez Cardoso, at the Centro de Artes and Centro Emmerico Nunes, both in Sines, Portugal; and “Wire” with Rui Horta Pereira at Galeria Bangbang, in Lisbon, Portugal.
Carlos No is represented in institutional and private collections in Portugal, Belgium, Brazil, Czech Republic, Finland, France, Germany, Hungary, Macao, Mexico, the Netherlands, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland and Vatican.
